Kokako Trust Project Update.
The Manawahe Kokako Trust are progressing well in their efforts to learn more about why the local Kokako population appears to be declining. Experts have identified 13 potential pairs from which 5 nests will be chosen to be monitored. Special monitoring cameras have arrived and will be set up on the selected nests when the kokako get them built. At that stage volunteers will also spend some time observing the nests. This involves a half hour walk into the bush, sitting for an hour making observation and a half hour return journey. If you are interested ring Ken Laurent on 07 307 1323.
